What should you write about?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>When aiming for success in blogging, the first thing you need to figure out is what you want to write about.<\/p>\n<p>You might think, &#8220;my life isn&#8217;t that exciting to share&#8221;\u2014and that might be true. But others might find your hobby, education, or daily routines interesting.<\/p>\n<div class=\"greybox\"><strong>Let me give you some examples &#8211; Click to see blogs:<\/strong><\/div>\n<div class=\"greybox\"><a href=\"http:\/\/proteinopskrifter.dk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">You love food? Start blogging about recipes<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.autouncle.dk\/da\/garagen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Love for cars? Share car tips<\/a><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/sarahposin.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Love for fitness? Share motivation, fitness, and nutrition tips<\/a><\/div>\n<p>I\u2019m sure you\u2019ve already caught my point! You don\u2019t need a Master\u2019s in philosophy or your own TV show to blog. The only thing you really need is passion!<\/p>\n<p>In other words, you should not start a blog based on what other people want to hear.<\/p>\n<p>You need to be passionate about what you write about\u2014otherwise, you\u2019ll give up your blog long before it becomes popular.<\/p>\n<div class=\"greenbox\"><strong>Tip:<\/strong> Google some of the topics you want to write about, and <a href=\"https:\/\/medium.com\/@domingov3\/11-must-try-money-making-blog-niches-for-2024-day-10-science-and-technology-ad22a88d3839\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">note what others are doing in that niche.<\/a> And remember, you need to do it better! You must have a unique touch. Otherwise, your content will just &#8220;fade&#8221; into the vast amount of content already available on the internet and social media.<\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"2_Finding_the_right_blog_platform\"><\/span>2. Finding the right blog platform<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>One of the biggest challenges when starting a blog is the technical aspect. It can seem very complicated to build a blog from scratch\u2014so there are several alternatives you should explore before diving into blogging.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Free_platforms\"><\/span><strong>Free platforms<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Bloggersdelight &#8211; offers to host your blog on their platform<\/li>\n<li>Blogger.com &#8211; owned by Google (large blog platform)<\/li>\n<li>Tumblr &#8211; a huge mini-blog site, very popular abroad<\/li>\n<li>WordPress &#8211; offers both hosting and a wordpress.com blog<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"ProsCons\"><\/span><strong>Pros\/Cons<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The biggest advantage of choosing an external hosting platform is that you avoid the technical hassle. You enter an already established framework with limited access to change the appearance and style. Additionally, you don&#8217;t have to worry about domains, server hosting, coding, etc.<\/p>\n<p>In my opinion, the biggest disadvantage of free platforms is that you don&#8217;t have control over your own content\u2014you are, in other words, contributing to that site to increase their traffic.<\/p>\n<p>Even though the alternatives I mentioned earlier have become quite good today, I still believe that a proper blog deserves an independent domain and platform. It takes a bit more time to build a blog on an independent domain, but you also have the opportunity to change everything\u2014and thus shape the site as you wish in terms of design and style.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Self-hosted_blog\"><\/span><strong>Self-hosted blog<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>I always use WordPress when creating new blogs, and the same goes for my own blog. It is super quick to set up a blog on WordPress, and the platform offers a lot of free tools (plugins) that you can install without having to pay for an expensive developer.<\/p>\n<p>When you start making money, you can, as I have done, expand your site with a developer&#8217;s expertise to make it more tailored.<\/p>\n<div class=\"greybox\"><strong>Examples I&#8217;ve made:<\/strong><\/div>\n<div class=\"greybox\">\n<ul>\n<li>My own blog, which you are currently reading.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aarhusosteopati.dk\/viden-om-kroppen\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aarhus Osteopati &#8211; Denmark&#8217;s largest health blog<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.peterbendtsen.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Peter Bendtsen &#8211; Denmark&#8217;s best personal trainer<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Helsebixen.dk\/magasin &#8211; Denmark&#8217;s largest health blog<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<p>I have also helped build several websites on the platform, including Sorry Mom, Tattoodo, SlikhaarTV, and many more. Even if you have a larger webshop, you can certainly utilize the potential in WordPress.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Domain_name\"><\/span><strong>Domain name<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>One of the first things is to find a domain name. Once you\u2019ve found the right name, you can really start your blogging adventure.<\/p>\n<p>When choosing a domain, remember that the name should be easy to remember and not too difficult to spell.<\/p>\n<p>Yes\u2014the very good domains like &#8220;recipes.dk&#8221; are taken, but that shouldn\u2019t stop your search for a good domain.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re starting your own business, I recommend <a href=\"https:\/\/www.brandroot.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brandroot.com<\/a>, as it offers the opportunity to buy some expensive but good names. If you just want to start your own personal blog, there are several paths you can take.<\/p>\n<p>If your name is Laura, and you love blogging about cake recipes, for example, you could go for a domain name like &#8220;lauraskagehus.dk&#8221; or &#8220;lauraskager.dk&#8221;. Alternatively, you could choose your full name, as I have done, if you want people to know you\u2014but I would only recommend this if your name is a bit unique.<\/p>\n<div class=\"greenbox\"><strong>Don\u2019t get too frustrated over your domain name!<\/strong> As long as the name is easy to remember and spell, it\u2019s not a life-or-death situation when it comes to blogging. It\u2019s fundamentally about creating good content\u2014which we will get back to!<\/div>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Setting_up_in_WordPress\"><\/span><strong>Setting up in WordPress<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>WordPress is the most used blog platform in the world. To be precise, about 10% of all websites in the world are built on the WordPress platform\u2014and with good reason: it\u2019s super easy for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>When you buy your domain, most web hosts have a WordPress installation in the back-end, so all you need to do is click on &#8220;install&#8221;\u2014but if this is not the case, you can <a href=\"https:\/\/codex.wordpress.org\/Installing_WordPress#Famous_5-Minute_Install\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">read this full guide on installing WordPress.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Both One.com and Unoeuro.com have the simple 1-click installation of WordPress. Here\u2019s an example of an installation on Unoeuro.com.<\/p>\n<p>After that, you just need to choose which domain you want to install it on.<\/p>\n<p>When you\u2019re done installing your website, you\u2019ll be able to log in to what\u2019s called the &#8220;backend&#8221;\u2014where you can write posts, edit pages, and much more.<\/p>\n<p>When you install WordPress, your site will automatically have a standard theme (appearance)\u2014but you can change this once you get started\u2014this way, you can also get to know the system better\u2014it\u2019s pretty intuitive!<\/p>\n<div class=\"greenbox\">\n<p><strong>Tip:<\/strong> Having your own domain may cost around 300 kroner per year, but it\u2019s 100% worth it because you &#8220;own&#8221; your own content, and it\u2019s much easier to start on your own domain than to &#8220;move&#8221; a blog to a new web address\u2014trust me! Smaller blogs are often looking for great content \u2013 and that\u2019s where you can contribute.<\/p>\n<p>The hardest part of being a blogger is attracting readers.<\/p>\n<p>Simply sharing your posts with friends on Facebook or X isn\u2019t really marketing.<\/p>\n<p>You need to dig deeper.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"6_SEO_for_bloggers_The_basics_of_search_engine_optimization\"><\/span><strong>6.
