model<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe you\u2019ve heard of it before, but if not, I\u2019ll walk you through it.<\/p>\n<p>In marketing, there are countless models that explain how to create the best and most profitable campaigns.<\/p>\n<p>Among these, you\u2019ll find models like Maslow\u2019s hierarchy of needs, audience analysis, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mickyweis.com\/en\/4ps-marketing-mix\/\">the 4 Ps<\/a>, and many more.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s no surprise that so many models exist within the same field.<\/p>\n<p>Marketing is fundamentally about understanding people and their behavior, which can be overwhelming without guiding frameworks.<\/p>\n<p>Since we\u2019re all complex individuals with unique needs, it\u2019s impossible to create a single strategy that works for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why I find it worthwhile to explore models and theories that help align marketing strategies with different target audiences.<\/p>\n<p>Now, back to the focus of this post \u2013 the <strong>SOR model<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SOR<\/strong> stands for <strong>S<\/strong>timuli, <strong>O<\/strong>rganism, and <strong>R<\/strong>esponse.<\/p>\n<p>Each of these elements outlines what a business should consider when influencing a consumer to purchase a product or service.<\/p>\n<p>Below, I\u2019ll break down what each element represents.<\/p>\n<div product or service.<\/p>\n<p>This includes promotional strategies, pricing, and media selection for advertisements.<\/p>\n<p>However, the decision to purchase might also be influenced by external factors in the consumer\u2019s environment, such as social, cultural, or political circles.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Organism\"><\/span>Organism<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The way a business influences consumers doesn\u2019t happen in a vacuum.<\/p>\n<p>This element focuses on the organism \u2013 the consumer as an individual and the target group they belong to.<\/p>\n<p>To create effective stimuli, businesses must understand the unique characteristics of their target audience, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Demographics<\/li>\n<li>Buying behavior and needs<\/li>\n<li>Decision-making processes<\/li>\n<li>Cultural and social factors<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>By leveraging knowledge about the organism and the stimuli they\u2019re exposed to in their social circles, businesses can design the most effective marketing campaigns.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Response\"><\/span>Response<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Ultimately, whether a business succeeds in influencing consumers depends on the response.<\/p>\n<p>The response is the effect an ad, website design, etc., has on the consumer.<\/p>\n<p>Does the consumer decide to make a purchase? What behavior is involved in the decision-making process?<\/p>\n<p>The response provides insights into whether the business\u2019s stimuli were effective.<\/p>\n<p>However, responses vary at the individual level, even within the same target group.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_SOR_model_in_practice\"><\/span>The SOR model in practice<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In my opinion, the SOR model offers a valuable perspective for assessing whether your marketing strategies are achieving the desired impact.<\/p>\n<p>It also helps businesses better understand their audiences and apply knowledge about behavior, decision-making processes, and social backgrounds to marketing efforts.<\/p>\n<p>In practice, you typically start by analyzing the organism, then develop the appropriate stimuli strategy.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, the response provides the data \u2013 such as conversion rates, ROAS, CTR, etc. You can learn more about these terms in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mickyweis.com\/en\/digital-dictionary\/\">my digital dictionary here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>To conclude, it\u2019s worth noting that the SOR model is just one of many marketing models, and you can often get more value by using different models in combination.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In this post, we\u2019ll explore some basic marketing theory by taking a closer look at the SOR model.
