website<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>One of the best ways to reach a highly segmented audience is by using the traffic you already have on your website.<\/p>\n<p>In short, this is done by installing a small code on your site. This code matches the traffic you get with Facebook users.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Audiences\"><\/span><strong>Audiences<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Once implemented, Facebook matches your site visitors to users on its platform.<\/p>\n<p>You can then select this audience during your ad planning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>As shown here, I\u2019ve chosen &#8220;Mickyweis.com \u2013 All traffic \u2013 180 days&#8221;<\/strong><br \/>\n<em>That means those who have visited my site in the last 180 days will see these ads.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Remember to exclude your other audiences so the data doesn\u2019t become distorted.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3591\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mickyweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Skaermbillede-2016-12-16-kl.-15.02.31.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"595\" height=\"539\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Users_who_performed_a_specific_action\"><\/span><strong>Users who performed a specific action<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>You can also make things a bit more \u201crefined.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s say you run a webshop \u2013 you can target ads to people who visited the cart but didn\u2019t complete the purchase.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>As shown below, I included visitors to \/cart but excluded those who visited \/thankyou.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>That means those who made it to the cart but didn\u2019t reach the &#8220;thank you for your purchase&#8221; page will see the ad.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3592\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mickyweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Skaermbillede-2016-12-16-kl.-15.05.34.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"638\" height=\"483\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"greybox\">\n<p><strong>Examples of strong audiences<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Users who visited your site in the last 30 days but didn\u2019t buy<\/li>\n<li>Visitors to a blog post \u2013 promote a relevant product<\/li>\n<li>Users who haven\u2019t visited your site for a long time \u2013 re-engage them<\/li>\n<li>Users who visited your site in the last 24 hours (target them while you\u2019re top-of-mind)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Create_ads\"><\/span><strong>Create ads<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>The final step is, of course, creating the ads.<\/p>\n<p>This is where emotional call-to-actions can be highly effective.<\/p>\n<div class=\"greybox\">\n<p><strong>Examples of effective ad texts<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Forgot to complete your purchase?<\/li>\n<li>We miss you \u2013 here\u2019s 20% off in our webshop<\/li>\n<li>You bought magnesium before \u2013 but did you know this? (new article)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"width: 640px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-9269-1\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mickyweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/custom-audiences.mp4?_=1\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mickyweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/custom-audiences.mp4\">https:\/\/www.mickyweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/custom-audiences.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Ads_in_Messenger\"><\/span><strong>Ads in Messenger<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A new feature on Facebook is the ability to bring people directly into Messenger when they click an ad.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why is that useful?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Imagine you want to start a dialogue with the customer \u2013 this is a modern version of personalized guidance or consultation.<\/p>\n<p>Many statistics show users prefer writing a message via chat or email over making a phone call.<\/p>\n<p>I imagine real estate agents, banks, insurance companies and more can benefit greatly from this.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re going to test it with Peter Bendtsen in connection with personal training this January.<\/p>\n<p>The idea is something like: \u201cWant to get started with your training? Let\u2019s be honest \u2013 most of us still use Facebook to connect with friends and find inspiration from people and pages we follow. We\u2019re not primarily there to shop.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s why Facebook has launched a tool to make it easier to buy the products we see \u2013 and easier for businesses to make them visible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Example from Made4men<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>We\u2019ve tested this on <strong>Made4men<\/strong>, and here\u2019s how it looks:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3544\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mickyweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Skaermbillede-2016-12-07-kl.-09.51.28.png\" alt=\"skaermbillede-2016-12-07-kl-09-51-28\" width=\"523\" height=\"723\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_it_works\"><\/span><strong>How it works<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>You need to connect your product catalog through your webshop (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mickyweis.com\/en\/shopify-webshop-platform\/\">Shopify<\/a>, Magento or WooCommerce all offer relatively simple integrations).<\/p>\n<p>This means Facebook pulls your products from a feed, just like Pricerunner or Partner-ads.<\/p>\n<p>When working correctly, you can tag products in your posts.<\/p>\n<div class=\"greybox\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Example 1 \u2013 tag products in posts<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>As shown below, you\u2019ll get a feature called \u201ctag a product.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3545\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mickyweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Skaermbillede-2016-12-07-kl.-09.55.56.png\" alt=\"produktkatalog-facebook\" width=\"560\" height=\"268\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>In \u201cproducts shown,\u201d you can start typing a product name, and Facebook will find it in your feed.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-3546\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mickyweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Skaermbillede-2016-12-07-kl.-09.57.33.png\" alt=\"skaermbillede-2016-12-07-kl-09-57-33\" width=\"540\" height=\"240\" \/><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"greybox\">\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>Example 2 \u2013 tag products in images<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>Have a very visual brand like jewelry? The function works the same way.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>As you can see, there&#8217;s an option to \u201ctag products\u201d on the left. Also remember that the products will show up in any ads you run based on that post.<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/business\/help\/1397294963910848\">Facebook\u2019s guide to setting up a product catalog<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Gamechanger_for_Instagram\"><\/span>Gamechanger for Instagram<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Instagram, smartly owned by Facebook, is also rolling out a similar tag products feature, which lets users go directly to the webshop selling the tagged product.<\/p>\n<p>This is a feature I strongly believe in \u2013 especially if it won\u2019t require a product catalog.<\/p>\n<p>That would allow bloggers, large Instagram fashion accounts and others to create affiliate businesses on a whole new level.<\/p>\n<p>It will also benefit companies that actively work with influencers, as they can get even more value from those collaborations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/189697605?title=0&amp;byline=0&amp;portrait=0\" width=\"640\" height=\"400\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><strong>Jack Threads from <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/instagramforbusiness\">Instagram for Business<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/\">Vimeo<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Audience_based_on_interaction\"><\/span><strong>Audience based on interaction<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>A newer Facebook feature allows you to target people who have engaged with your posts or ads on your Facebook Page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What does this enable?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Let\u2019s say you manage an active Facebook page with competitions and viral content.<\/p>\n<p>You now have a great opportunity to get those users to like your page.<\/p>\n<p>Or, say you\u2019ve published a blog post that gets a lot of likes \u2013 why not promote a related product to those people?<\/p>\n<p>Most of the people who participate in your contests and like your posts aren\u2019t even fans of your page \u2013 especially if the content goes viral.<\/p>\n<p>So give them what they\u2019re interested in.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 640px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-9269-2\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mickyweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/engagement-video-ca.mp4?_=2\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mickyweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/engagement-video-ca.mp4\">https:\/\/www.mickyweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/engagement-video-ca.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<h2 class=\"p1\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Upload_your_email_list\"><\/span>Upload your email list<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Something I\u2019ve gotten great results from is using newsletter subscribers as a target audience.<\/p>\n<p>This is also possible via <strong>Custom Audiences<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>If you have a large customer database or many newsletter subscribers \u2013 say, from your blog \u2013 you can target them with Facebook ads.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 640px;\" class=\"wp-video\"><video class=\"wp-video-shortcode\" id=\"video-9269-3\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" preload=\"metadata\" controls=\"controls\"><source type=\"video\/mp4\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mickyweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/custom-audiences.mp4?_=3\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mickyweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/custom-audiences.mp4\">https:\/\/www.mickyweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/06\/custom-audiences.mp4<\/a><\/video><\/div>\n<div class=\"greybox\">\n<p><strong>Great tips<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Segment your email list by best customers. Export those who\u2019ve spent more than 1,000 DKK, for example.<\/li>\n<li>You don\u2019t need to filter for gender, age or location before uploading \u2013 Facebook\u2019s ad system handles that once the list is in place.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Bonus_tip_Use_the_same_audiences_for_Instagram\"><\/span>Bonus tip: Use the same audiences for Instagram.<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>You may already have played around with Instagram ads.<\/p>\n<p>The great thing is that many of these new features also work on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>You can use the same audience definitions there.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>In the ad set, just choose where you want your ads to appear.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3611\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mickyweis.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/04\/Skaermbillede-2016-12-18-kl.-11.05.35-1030x806-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"980\" height=\"767\" \/><\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"greybox\">\n<p><strong>Tip<\/strong>: Always use 2 separate audiences \u2013 one for Facebook and one for Instagram.
