The requirements are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The profile must meet Meta\u2019s minimum requirements for continuous activity, meaning stories, posts, and other content.<\/li>\n<li>The name on the profile must match a government-issued ID, which ensures followers that the person behind the account actually exists.<\/li>\n<li>The person behind the profile must be at least 18 years old.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>According to Meta, compliance with these requirements will be checked regularly so that users on Facebook and Instagram can be certain that verified individuals are who they claim to be.<\/p>\n<p>Over time, the subscription solution will apply to all users, including businesses.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_are_the_benefits_of_a_verified_profile_on_Facebook_and_Instagram\"><\/span><strong>What are the benefits of a verified profile on Facebook and Instagram?<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Starting in February 2023, \u201cVerified by Meta\u201d was tested in Australia and New Zealand. The subscription can be purchased directly in the Facebook or Instagram app for $14.99 (USD) per month, while on the web it can be purchased for $11.99 (USD) per month.<\/p>\n<p>However, the subscription purchased via the web only applies to Facebook verification.<\/p>\n<p>At present, users worldwide can sign up for the waiting list to become verified on Meta\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>According to Meta, there are several benefits to having a verified profile:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Increased reach and visibility of a profile, including in comment sections and in Facebook\u2019s and Instagram\u2019s search suggestions.<\/li>\n<li>Users can trust the authenticity of the profile, which makes them feel safer following a verified account.<\/li>\n<li>Verified profiles are offered monitoring by Meta to detect impersonators, further strengthening authenticity.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In the future, Meta will also expand its verification subscription to include businesses.
