What does it actually mean when people ask for a dofollow link?

Dofollow links are links that tell search engines to follow them and pass on value from one page to another.

The reason why many people in the online marketing world want a dofollow link is because it helps their website rank better in search engines.

The difference between dofollow and nofollow links

A nofollow link includes the attribute rel=”nofollow”. A dofollow link simply lacks this attribute.

For a regular website visitor, there is no visible difference. But for the site being linked to, it can make a big difference whether value is passed on or not.

Both types of links are often part of a link building strategy.
