To add a link to your Instagram story, there are a few simple requirements.

You must either:

  • Have more than 10,000 followers on Instagram
  • Have your profile set to a business account

or

  • Have a verified Instagram profile

If you meet these conditions, the process is very straightforward.

How to add a link to your story

Let me guide you through the steps:

  1. Log in to Instagram and tap the camera icon, or swipe left.
  2. Take a photo or video, or choose one from your camera roll.
  3. Tap the link icon at the top of your screen (in the middle).
  4. Paste the link you want to add to your story.
  5. Tap “Done” or the checkmark, depending on whether you’re using iPhone or Android.

Why add a link to your Instagram story?

By adding a link to your story, you give yourself better opportunities to engage with your audience. For example, if you run a webshop, you can drive more conversions. Or you can lead followers to your website where the content may work better than it does directly on Instagram.

What if I don’t meet the requirements?

Unfortunately, there’s not much you can do at the moment. The best advice is to place a link in your bio—or use a tool that lets you easily switch out the links.

That way, you can still include a call to action in your stories and direct people to your website.
