To use your website products in your advertising, you need to connect what is called a “catalog” to your ad setup.

You do this inside your Facebook Business Manager, where you can upload a catalog. It is possible to add products manually – but this is not recommended.

If you are using one of the most popular e-commerce platforms, they often offer an easy integration that lets you export a “feed.”

This feed continuously sends product data directly to Facebook, ensuring that your catalog is always up to date.

That is why you often see the same products you previously viewed when you return to Facebook or Instagram.

Dynamic product ads and automatic update

These are commonly known as “Dynamic Product Ads” because they are generated dynamically based on the data you provide through your feed.

This means that if you update prices on your website, those prices are automatically reflected in your ads through the feed, ensuring that what the user sees is always current.

These ads can be customized inside Facebook Ads Manager by applying overlays with prices or adding graphical elements to help your products stand out when users scroll through their feed.

Product feed health and versatility

When you upload your feed, you’ll also receive feedback about any issues Facebook detects in your data. A “healthy” feed often plays a key role in how successful your ads will be on the platform.

It’s not only traditional online stores that can benefit from this type of advertising. For example, a car dealership can use product feeds to ensure that users who have viewed a specific type of vehicle will later see ads featuring those same models.
