Linkbuilding has increasingly become an art form in the digital field. There are many opinions on how linkbuilding should be done in practice and how to acquire the right links. I have previously written a longer guide about linkbuilding, so this article focuses on briefly explaining how to actively find good links.

There are several different ways to find links that will benefit your website. First and foremost, it is of course about the value of the individual link. If you have a new website, meaning you have just started with your www address, this page will often have a value close to zero. Therefore, it is important to get links to raise this value.

Quality links through PR

One way to obtain the best links is through PR such as press releases and general coverage, and of course, there are differences in how easy it is to obtain these depending on the type of business you run and the market you operate in.

Those who often work with linkbuilding have a strong network of links around them, but it can take a long time to build.

Therefore, it can be an advantage to conduct a competitor analysis using a system like Ahrefs where you can see which links others in the same market already have. This gives an idea of how to acquire those links.

Additionally, there are places where you can start out by acquiring links by, for example, purchasing them.

Examples include:

The above are just examples of places where you can both get a link that has relevance for your SEO value in Google but also creates credibility with consumers.

Good links are often a combination of a domain that has high value in Google and is highly relevant to your own website.

If, for example, you run a webshop selling fishing gear, it would be wise to get a link from an association about recreational fishing.

In other words, relevance also plays a role in how well a link fits into an overall link strategy.

It is clear that the bigger the store, the more resources and energy you can spend on your link strategy. In the beginning, it is about being creative and creating content that others find so interesting that they automatically link to you.
