Issues with tagging products on Instagram shopping

Unfortunately, many experience issues with tagging their products via Instagram Shopping. There can be several reasons for this. Most often, it’s because the business has not been approved, which can be checked in Facebook’s Business Manager under the catalog settings.

What you can do is review their guidelines and ensure compliance. Afterwards, it’s possible to reapply. Remember, the page must be publicly accessible—and there are certain categories that are not eligible for Instagram Shopping.

Industries where Instagram shopping works best

Instagram Shopping generally works best in industries such as fashion, jewelry, and home decor.

It’s a good idea to tag your URLs properly so you can track traffic in Google Analytics and assess whether the effort is worthwhile.

Only Instagram business accounts connected to a product catalog can tag products. This means that external partners such as influencers are not able to tag products themselves.
